our first grade program
Art
The First Grade students have art once a week for 50 minutes. The art curriculum provides students with the opportunity to experience a variety of media throughout the year. Lessons are developed with classroom theme studies in mind as well as covering the elements and principles of design. In conjunction with the First Grade’s research workshop focus on the history and culture of communication, art as a mode of communication is a focus this year. Each lesson is designed to teach new materials and methods and reinforce previously taught skills. Projects are open ended and students are encouraged to experiment and explore.
