St. Anne's School of Annapolis

FAQs

What are the funding sources for a St. Anne’s School education?
As an independent Episcopal school, St. Anne’s School does not receive federal, state or church funding. The operating budget relies on three primary sources of revenue: tuition and fees, auxiliary program revenue and annual giving.

What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is made up of charitable donations to cover expenses not met by tuition alone. Like all independent schools, St. Anne's School does not charge the full amount that it costs to educate a student. In fact, only 80% of the operating expenses are covered by tuition revenue. St. Anne's School depends on the Annual Fund and the generosity of parent, grandparents, alumni, staff, and friends to support and enrich its programs and curricula and bridge this funding gap.

Why doesn't St. Anne's School simply raise tuition?
The Annual Fund allows us to set tuition lower than it would otherwise need to be to keep the school more affordable for all of our families. As a community, we believe this practice helps us build the type of inclusive school we all wish to have, rather than simply raising tuition to cover all operating expenses.

Who supports Annual Giving?
Parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty, staff and many foundations and corporations all come together to support the Annual Fund and ensure the financial health of the institution.

Will my gift make a difference?
All gifts to the Annual Fund regardless of size - are a statement of support for St. Anne's School's mission. Your gift says to our community and beyond that you value your St. Anne's School experience and want to invest in the continued health of the school. All school staff contribute to the Annual Fund each year. Our goal is to have 100% participation from our families as well.

How much should I give, and when?
As you consider your gift to this year's Annual Fund, please keep in mind that all gifts make a difference and full participation ensures we have a committed community of families. Whether $25 or $25,000, your gift will be put to immediate use for the benefit of today's students.

We encourage families to give a generously as they are able and ask current parents to make St. Anne's School one of their top philanthropic priorities. While leadership donations of $1,000+ go a long way toward ensuring the school's economic strength and opportunities for growth, a donation of any amount is also important and makes a difference to our students.

We ask that everyone make their pledge by December 31. Payment needs to be received by June 30. Early gifts and pledges reduce mailings and overhead costs, saving Annual Fund dollars for use in academic and other programs.

How can I make a contribution?
Your tax deductible gift can be made with a check, stock, credit card (VISA, MasterCard, and AMEX), or online at www.st.annesschool.org.

Many companies offer matching gift programs, a wonderful way to double or even triple your gift amount. For more information, contact the Development Office.

“It is our pleasure to support St. Anne’s by donating to the Annual Fund, attending school events, and volunteering on committees. It is the least we can do to give back all that is poured into our children. St. Anne’s provides our children with diversity, engaged and creative learning, fun, good friends, and a caring community. And, it provides us with a peace of mind and an appreciation for caring teachers and administrators who enjoy teaching and developing our children to their fullest potential. It’s a good feeling knowing St. Anne’s is a good fit for our family.”
