The Annual Fund: A Vital Source of Support
Click here for 2009-2010 Annual Fund Challenge
The St. Anne’s School of Annapolis Annual Fund provides important financial support to the school’s general operating budget and is always the first priority of our fundraising. Not only does a robust Annual Fund help cover the school's operating expenses, but it enables us to continue adding value to the St. Anne’s School experience. By providing unrestricted support for the annual operating budget each year, donors support everything that happens at St. Anne’s School.
Tuition alone cannot support the research-driven curriculum, thriving fine arts and athletic programs, and essential social and leadership development opportunities that our students and faculty need. St. Anne’s School must rely on the voluntary gifts of its own community to fulfill its mission.
The Annual Fund helps to ensure that St. Anne’s School maintains:
- An outstanding faculty
- A diverse student body
- An exceptional curriculum
- Meaningful community service programs
- Consequential leadership initiatives
- A rich variety of athletic and fine arts programs
Contributions can be made directly to St. Anne's School through a check, credit card, gift of appreciated securities or by making a pledge. A pledge creates the flexibility to plan a gift over time, and may allow for a gift with greater impact. Planned giving options are outlined in the Planned Giving section and your financial advisor will be able to discuss the best ways to structure your giving.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the funding sources for a St. Anne’s School education?
As an independent Episcopal school, St. Anne’s School does not receive federal, state, or church funding. The operating budget relies on three primary sources of revenue: tuition and fees, auxiliary program revenue and annual giving.
Why is Annual Giving important?
Tuition and auxiliary programs account for about 90 percent of the school’s operating budget. The funds raised through the Annual Fund provide the rest. For this reason, each gift to the Annual Fund supplies critical resources to maintain the best possible programs for the student community.
Why not just raise tuition?
At independent schools, tuition is regularly kept lower than cost in order to make the enriched education available to a greater number of students. Annual Giving is a tax-deductible way to ensure educational excellence at our school.
Why not rely on endowment?
St. Anne’s School does not currently have an endowment of the size needed to provide substantive support to the operating budget. This is one of the goals of the Compass for the Future campaign.
Who supports Annual Giving?
Parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty, staff and many foundations and corporations all come together to support the Annual Fund and ensure the financial health of the institution.
How much should I give?
Every gift, regardless of size, is valued and makes a difference. You can be assured that your contribution, along with those of all our donors, will enhance the St. Anne’s School educational program. Annual Fund gifts range in size from under $10 to well over $10,000. While leadership gifts help to ensure the school’s economic strength and opportunities for growth, a gift in any amount is important and appreciated as it demonstrates the donors’ commitment to the students and teachers at St. Anne’s School. We hope that all members of our school community recognize that their support is critical and will make an Annual Fund contribution to ensure the success of St. Anne’s School.
