The Annapolis Twos Environment
In the Annapolis Twos program, we create a welcoming, respectful and engaging environment where your child can start their learning safely, soundly and successfully.
Our Environment:
- Includes interesting items that provoke discovery, socialization and deep thinking
- Is safe and developmentally appropriate
- Is warm, softly lit, inviting, beautiful and includes real and natural materials to help children feel "at home"
- Includes different materials and levels for children to experience and attempt in order to develop both gross and fine motor abilities
- Includes materials that promote interaction and experience in the areas of literacy and cognitive problem-solving
- Reflects documentation of children's experiences, thoughts, feelings and ideas
- Includes a sense of flow and time that considers children's natural rhythms
- Reflects and makes connections with the individual's identity and his or her home and family
Our Learners:
- Engage in activities that promote emergent literacy, early math learning, gross and fine motor development, speaking and listening skills, musical and artistic interests
- Enjoy sharing their perspectives, asking questions, posing and solving problems
- Learn to express ideas, experiences, feelings, questions and theories not only through speaking and listening but also through a variety of modalities such as art, music and dramatic and imaginary play
- Explore a variety of materials such as light, clay, water colors, markers, papers, mirrors, windows, natural and recycled materials
- Are immersed in an environment that provokes discovery, exploration and socialization
- Engage in in-depth projects, learning to be researchers, investigators and collaborators
