Explorers

Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with before and after care available. Campers choose 3 areas of interest to explore each week, along with exciting theme activities and swimming.


The Explorers programs at Camp Annapolis are designed for rising Fourth through Eighth Graders. Campers will participate in exciting themed activities each week and enjoy swimming at Fishing Creek Farm Community Pool on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:00 – 12:00. Each week campers attend Exploration Stations on Tuesdays and Thursdays; they may select three stations to focus on per week.

Fees: $210 (Week 1: $126, Week 4: $168)

Week One: June 13 – June 17 Register Now
Field Trip: Maryland Zoo
Exploration Station A (Choose One):

  • Photography: Learn basic principles for taking great digital photographs. Photos will be used on our camp blog.
  • Field Games: Play kick ball, field hockey and many other classic gym time favorites.
  • Sensational Science: Set up and perform real science experiments, from kick-the-can ice cream to simple circuits.

Exploration Station B (Choose One):

  • T-Shirt Transformation: Create one of a kind wearable art using techniques that are the latest trend in fashion.
  • Junior Joggers: Develop a passion for a sport that you can enjoy your entire life. Set and keep track of distance and time goals. Proper warm-up routines and cool down stretching will be addressed.
  • Journalism Part I: Get the scoop on camp activities and develop your writing, videotaping, photography and reporting techniques that will captivate your audience. Campers will develop and maintain posts for our camp blog. Campers must take Journalism Part II as well.

Exploration Station C (Choose One):

  • Paper Crafts: A step above scrapbooking, campers will create unique paper crafts including frames, origami lanterns and mini-books with decorated papers.
  • Hike and Bike: Campers will bike to Quiet Waters Park and hike through the park. Campers must provide their own bikes, which may be kept at camp for the week.
  • Journalism Part II: Get the scoop on camp activities and develop writing, videotaping, photography and reporting techniques that will captivate your audience. Campers will develop and maintain posts for our camp blog. Campers must take Journalism Part I as well.

Exploration Station A (Choose One):

  • Jewelry Making: Create one of a kind beaded bracelets and necklaces. Learn how to design, string and finish your creations like professionals do.
  • Sports Combo: Participate in several new athletic events during each season.
  • Myth Busters: Can cola really dissolve your teeth? Will walking in the rain actually keep you drier? Could ping pong balls really raise the Titanic? Research and perform experiments to find out whether these and other myths are proved, plausible or busted.

Exploration Station B (Choose One):

  • Sea Glass Collage: Use actual sea glass collected by our resident artist to create one-of-a-kind collages.
  • Quidditch: Ok...no flying, but you will learn the rules and play the muggle version of Quidditch.
  • Journalism Part I: Get the scoop on camp activities and develop your writing, videotaping, photography and reporting techniques that will captivate your audience. Campers will develop and maintain posts for our camp blog. Campers must take Journalism Part II as well.

Exploration Station C (Choose One):

  • Camp Crafts: Create a variety of classic camp crafts like popsicle stick boxes, pet rocks and friendship pins.
  • Fencing: Learn the rules, stances and basic moves in fencing. All gear is provided.
  • Journalism Part II: Get the scoop on camp activities and develop writing, videotaping, photography and reporting techniques that will captivate your audience. Campers will develop and maintain posts for our camp blog. Campers must take Journalism Part I as well.

Exploration Station A (Choose One):

  • Painting with One Stroke: Learn painting techniques to decorate frames, boxes, plaques and gift bags with one stroke.
  • Field Games: Play kick ball, field hockey and many other classic gym time favorites.
  • Reading and Board Games: Relax with a good book, or strategize over several different board games, including chess, checkers and mancala.

Exploration Station B (Choose One):

  • Fuse Glass: Design, cut and create one-of-a-kind fuse glass projects.
  • Junior Joggers: Develop a passion for a sport that you can enjoy your entire life. Set and keep track of distance and time goals. Proper warm-up routines and cool down stretching will be addressed.
  • Journalism Part I: Get the scoop on camp activities and develop your writing, videotaping, photography and reporting techniques that will captivate your audience. Campers will develop and maintain posts for our camp blog. Campers must take Journalism Part II as well.

  • Upcycling: Create treasures from recycled materials.
  • Nutrition: Plan, prep, cook and eat healthy and delicious snacks.
  • Journalism Part II: Get the scoop on camp activities and develop writing, videotaping, photography and reporting techniques that will captivate your audience. Campers will develop and maintain posts for our camp blog. Campers must take Journalism Part I as well.

Week Four: July 2 – July 6 (No Camp on July 4) Register Now

  • Sewing: Learn basic hand sewing techniques to create wearable art.
  • Sports Combo: Participate in several new athletic events during each session.
  • Creative Computer: Use free online software to create music, comic strips and animations.

Exploration Station B (Choose One):

  • Crocheting: Learn to crochet a granny square and other basic shapes.
  • Quidditch: Ok...no flying, but you will learn the rules and play the muggle version of Quidditch.
  • Journalism Part I: Get the scoop on camp activities and develop your writing, videotaping, photography and reporting techniques that will captivate your audience. Campers will develop and maintain posts for our camp blog. Campers must take Journalism Part II as well.

Exploration Station C (Choose One):

  • Core Workout: Build a strong core by exercising a variety of muscles from your hips to your shoulders.
